Commissioned by the Deutsche Bank Stiftung, A Safe and Special Place is a 20-minute micro-opera for three singers, one performance artist and ten musicians written by Thierry Tidrow with a libretto by Mien Bogaert.

 

Composer Rau and the poet are artists who could not be more different in their view of the arts. Siegfried Neugebauer, an agent of good faith, however, plans to finally organize a meeting of minds between these impressive artists… Chaos, cults and a complete system shutdown follow in an immersive production that includes the musicians as a vital part of the music and scene.
