BRUISSEMENTS DU COSMOS

Amy Crankshaw - Penda Diouf

Festival Aix-en-Provence

June 2021

Bruissements du Cosmos is a 20-minute micro-opera for three singers written by South-African composer Amy Crankshaw with a libretto by French-Senegalese writer Penda Diouf.

It is a tribute to everything that has come before us, the individual struggles we face, and the underlying connection that unites us through time and space. It centers the connection of nature, anchestors and humankind with gratitude.

Bruissements du Cosmos explores spacial composition and narration, individual sound experiences, and the connection between music, staging, audience, and the never-ending strings of life.

With performers Mimi Doulton, Christian Andreas and Seydou Diarra. Commissioned by L'Academie du Festival d'Aix as part of the 2020/21 Opera de ci de la - Residence under the mentorship of Anthony Heidweiller.
