Based on Ibsens Little Eyolf, great open eyes focuses on the trauma of child loss. It narrates the struggle of Rita and Alfred, whose crippled son Eyolf drowned, in a non-linear way making little Eyolfs encounter with the rat-wife the fragmented center of their story.

The focus is on a musical-dramaturgical-scenic unity: the orchestra functions as a central part of the story.
